In Call of Duty 2, there are severe FPS issues after first 20 minutes of play, but my PC meets requirements?
Specs:
processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (2.8 GHZ)
graphix: 2X nVidia GeForce 8500 GT in SLi
memory: 2 GB
sound: Realtek HD Audio 7.1 (integrated)
It plays fairly smoothly for the first twenty minutes, and then the mouse (intellimouse explorer 2.0 wireless) takes forever to respond, gameplay is choppy, etc. I changed the batteries last week. also, i patched the game to the latest, 1.3.
OS windows vista home premium 32 bit
Also I should note that during one of my freeze ups, I opened up task manager and noticed that my CPU was only at 57 %.
I have no idea why it's not doing what it should. System-wise you should be more than fine.
There seem to be some compatibility issues with systems other than XP - won't work on Me, etc. For some reason, some of my older games recognize Vista as Win 6.0 or Win 95. Maybe it's a backwards compat thing?
I've heard (but not tried) that you can run older programs in XP or other emulations. I've heard (but not tried) right-clicking on a program to bring up properties and clicking on a mode indicator. Maybe this will help?
Otherwise, take it apart piece by piece. Switch in a corded mouse (intellimouse sometimes the same MS issues that alot of their products do). Then pull the SLI, or at least change the resolution. GeForce 8 chips work entirely differently than GeForce 7 or 6, so they might be "too good" for the game. I don't know if you can disable SLI so you're down to one card, or if you physically need to pull the plug.
