Has anyone else used the product Slime to repair a tire and got screwed?
We had a flat tire and went to buy "Fix a Flat" and the store was out. They had this product called Slime, some green gooey stuff that you insert into the tire. It didn't work. We then tried Fix a Flat which didn't work. We took the tire to get repaired and it was going to be free because we had bought the tire there. They couldn't fix it because the Slime is flammable and they have to heat the tire to repair it. So we have to buy a new tire. Has anyone else tried this stuff?
1. Neither Slime or Fix-A-Flat is a repair - they are temporary solutions only designed to get you as far as the shop to repair or replace the tire.
2. Neither Slime nor Fix-A-Flat will work on every type of puncture.
3. If they have to "heat" anything to do a tire repair they are repairing the tire using improper, non-RMA approved methods. You should not have this shop repair your tire.
4. Slime and Fix-A-Flat are a huge pain in the butt to work with when trying to repair a tire. Expect to be charged an extra fee.
5. Your vehicle comes equipped from the factory with a spare tire. If you have a properly inflated spare tire in the vehicle you do not need Fix-A-Flat or Slime or any other similar product.
