Have You Gone On A Biking Rally?
If you are a sports lover or if you are a regular viewer of the program entitled ‘World's Craziest Passions' that is telecast on Discovery Channel, you must have some knowledge of what dirt-bikes actually are. You might have seen videos of little children riding these vehicles and speeding them up and down hilly roads.
Since late 190s these have been the blazing trails. But as a new form of sport, they required a new getup to serve that purpose. The mini dirt bikes grew and developed in power and size over the years. These mini dirt bikes introduced many children to the art of riding.
These little vehicles can also be referred to as pit bikes or mini-motos. They are only the scaled-down versions of the main full-size off-road motorcycles that you get to see. These vehicles are powered by a 2- or 4- stroke carburetors having displacements which range from 50cc to 110cc. Although these mini vehicles are designed mainly for the young riders, their power and performance are comparable to the bigger bikes. Most of the time, these little vehicles come equipped with a four-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, semi as well as fully automatic transmission models are available, just to speed up a child's learning curve. The brake system is accomplished with a hydraulic by hydraulic disc-brake systems for the front and the rear wheel. Some mini dirt bikes have special features to prevent injuries due to accidents.
Mini dirt bikes were developed since the early 1960s. The first smaller trial models like CT100 Trail50 were the ones launched by Honda. This was a small motorcycle that was powered by a 49cc OHV 4-stroke motor. But many of today's recent manufacturers are bringing up smaller ones in their own particular line-up. Honda's CRF50 and Yamaha's TTR50 are the best examples that can be cited. Those manufacturers who are specialized in manufacturing the small vehicles as of Thumpstar and SDG, have already enrolled themselves into the competition by bringing up those models which have a comparatively newer and of course high performance set-up.
These little vehicles are mainly seen in Motocross competitive events all over the world and they even have youth-level races. These mini dirt bikes have grabbed the attention of the big manufacturers and have been successful enough to shift their focus from the machines that they previously manufactured for entry-level riders. Although these are lightweight vehicles, they are perfectly suitable for mini racers all over the world. So, charge yourselves up for the next biking rally!
